NYCC Day One Recap

Today was the first day of NYCC and it was incredible. Here are the awesome things I got to do!

Started the day with a Disney panel. The panel featured Big Hero 6 and Tomorrowland. Starting with Big Hero 6 we were introduced to the voice cast and some awesome never before seen clips from the movie. Each seat had gift bags and in certain bags were passes to see an advanced screening. My bag had one and was not about to pass up the opportunity to watch the movie with the cast!
Then out came the Tomorrowland panel and we met some of the cast featuring Hugh Laurie and Britt Robinson. We also had a surprise guest of George Clooney. They showed the teaser trailer and a super intense scene **SPOILER** with Britt and Clooney escaping a group of mechanical futuristic soldiers. So awesome!

After that panel we went to learn about a new Transformers animated TV show. Transformers: Robots in Disguise has Bumblebee step up as a leader of misfit Autobots to fight of a wave of criminal Decepticons on earth. Will Friedle of Boy Meets World is voicing Bumblebee and yes he is just as hilarious in person.

We had some spare time to visit the show floor with all of the great comic store merchandise.

We barely got started there when we had to rush to the Legend of Korra: Book 4 panel. The main voice cast of Korra (Janet Varney), Mako (David Faustino) and Bolin (P.J. Byrne) we there. The beginning of the panel was spent watching episode 2 of Book 4. It is such a deep and transformative episode. We learn so much about Korra’s struggle over the time past and how she got to where she is now. There is an amazing twist at the end of the episode that fans have been waiting for since the show premiered.

The next part of the panel was spent reflecting on the show and its fans and the creators/cast appreciation. The last part was showing how the creators brought Book 4 together and matured the characters. We saw many of the development of characters from basic drawings through to full animation and the intricate process that occurred.
Although I would love to have heard an announcement about a new series it seemed that the creators have ideas that want to see created that are outside the Avatar universe. I can’t wait to see what they do next!

After that panel we left NYCC and rushed over to the movie theater to see the advanced screening of Big Hero 6. The entire panel returned to watch it with us and see how we react to it since we are the first outside production audience to watch the movie. How cool is that? I cannot review it yet but as soon as I can there will be one posted! It’s awesome BTW!

Day one flew by and I barely broke the surface of Comic Con. Day two is a jam packed day so make sure you follow @snippetstudios all weekend to get my latest updates!
