Remembering Paul Walker, Star of “Fast & Furious”
A truly tragic loss, Paul Walker passed away earlier this weekend.
At the age of 40, he was attending an event for his own charity, REACH OUT Worldwide, when he got into a terrible car-crash and passed away. Paul was a passionate actor who was dedicated to his career and was very active with various charities. Best known for his acting in the Fast and Furious series, Paul had a full career and one that will be remembered for many years to come.
Paul was born in California and began his acting career in commercials and with small parts on popular TV shows. His career jumped up with supporting roles in movies such as Pleasentville, Varsity Blues, and She’s All That. Paul became well recognized for his teen heartthrob looks, and his popularity gained with every role.
In 2001 Paul took on the role that would define his career: the character of Brian O’Conner in The Fast and the Furious. It was a dynamic role as an undercover LAPD officer who learns that the lines drawn by the law can often be blurred by circumstances. This movie led to a long-standing series with alongside Vin Diesel. The two became very close friends and continuously defined the modern action movie duo.
After shooting the sequel movie, Paul moved on to other notable roles in Running Scared and Flags of Our Fathers. In another underrated role, Walker played a dog sled owner in Eight Below, a tale in the Antarctic between a man and his team of dogs and how they must survive the frigid cold separately.
After almost six years away from the franchise, Paul rejoined the Fast and Furious series with Fast & Furious. The series was updated and reinvented in a new time. With a large budget and a dedicated family of actors, the series was rejuvenated and became a major hit with a plan for many sequels. With two more movies over 4 years, the series was booming. Paul was filming Fast & Furious 7 at the time of his accident; a tragedy to be taken in a car-crash, by the very activity that helped define his career so much. The series had a large future planned with Paul, and it will be a tragedy to not see him in it if they choose to continue.
Besides his acting career, Paul had many passions. He was an avid car enthusiast, which was only emphasized through the Fast and Furious series. He even opened a performance shop for high-end vehicles called Always Evolving. Roger Rovas, owner of Always Evolving, also perished in the accident that took Walker’s life. Walker started his own charity, REACH OUT Worldwide after noticing a need for more resources during disaster situations and the need for more volunteers to help support victims. Paul spent his time and money in order to ensure that his organization did whatever it could to help in these times of need.
Although his life has ended and his wonderful career cut short, we do know that Paul Walker was dedicated to his career, charity and fans. A terrible loss that was shocking to everyone, Paul Walker’s death will resonate with us for a long time, and his life will be remembered and celebrated for many years to come.
He will truly be missed.
Though unmarried, Walker is survived by a daughter, Meadow, who is 15 years old.
