Ric’s Netflix Picks: “Rogue Trader”

How much money do you need to bankrupt a bank?

About 800 million pounds.

No one knows this better than Nick Leeson (Ewan McGregor). Based on true events, Rogue Trader is the story of Nick’s rise to being one of the most profitable traders for Barings Bank. Working on the SIMEX (Singapore International Monetary Exchange), he gambles bigger and bigger. When his losses begin to mount, he hides them from upper management in a secret account. Little does Nick realize who and what he is actually putting at risk.

Ewan McGregor is easily the best part of this movie; he is by far the brightest spot. Rogue Trader is a decent dramatic film that is very relevant given the recent financial history of the United States.
